Trying to clean and organize a closet can be difficult at times. Mostly because you might not know where to start. And also there are a lot of useful tricks you might not know as well. That’s why I’ve put together this quick and easy closet organization guide. I know that these closet organizing tips and tricks will help you out a lot.
Alright, let’s reset that closet in a way that actually feels doable (not overwhelming). I’m going to walk you through this like we’re doing it together .
REMOVE EVERYTHING

Start with a full closet clean out—and yes, I mean everything comes out. Take all clothes, shoes, bags, and random items and place them on your bed or a clean surface.
This step is important because it forces you to see exactly what you have. As you empty the closet, begin your cleaning room process by quickly dusting shelves, wiping rods, and vacuuming or sweeping the floor. Think of this as the foundation for your room reset—you don’t want to organize on top of dirt.
CREATE A CHECKLIST
Next, create a simple cleaning checklist to guide your decisions: keep, donate, toss, or relocate. Go through each item one by one and ask yourself if you’ve worn it recently or if it still fits your lifestyle.
TIME TO DE-CLUTTER
Be honest here—this is where the magic happens. Anything you haven’t touched in months (or forgot you even owned) probably doesn’t need to go back in your closet. Place items into piles based on your checklist so you stay organized and don’t second-guess yourself later.
Now that you’ve de-cluttered, it’s time to follow a cleaning list step by step for organizing. Start with categories: group tops, bottoms, dresses, and outerwear separately.
Then take it a step further by organizing within those groups—by color or frequency of use. Keep your most-worn items at eye level so they’re easy to grab. This not only saves time but keeps your closet looking neat without much effort.
Use double racks for less space
For this you are going to need a small double or single holed object to go over the hanger rack’s head like a can pull tab. If you are using a single holed object try to make sure both hanger rack heads can fit through it.
It’s best to place the holed object over the first rack’s head, then place the second hanger rack head through the holed object. Now you can hang them.
Hang your clothes and other stuff in groups

Doing this helps is probably one of the best ways to organize your closet. All you have to is put stuff that are alike together.
You can make it simple by hanging all jackets together or you can do it based on color for example if you have a lot of different color belts you can try to put all the matching colors together. Double the clothes for less space.
Use a coat and hat rack for more space in the closet
If you are a person who has a lot of coats and hats, this will come in handy especially if you are trying to organize your closet. You can get one here.
EVERYTHING HAVE A PLACE
For shoes, bags, and accessories, give everything a “home.” Use bins, baskets, or small organizers to keep items from piling up again. Shoes can be lined neatly on the floor or placed on a rack, while handbags can be stored upright or hung.
This part of the closet clean out helps prevent clutter from creeping back in. When everything has a place, your closet naturally stays organized longer.
2. Over door shoe rack
An over door shoe rack is very cheap and using it will make you have way more space in your closet. You can put a lot of shoes on it without using up a lot of space. You can find it here, but feel free to look for better deals.
Get a cheap drawer cart
Get a cheap drawer cart for items such as socks and other small items, you hardly use but you know you need. For example, fold and put the sucks in the top drawer and the rest in the other drawers.
FRESHEN-UP THE CLOSET
Before putting your clothes back, take a moment to freshen things up. Add a light scent with a sachet, dryer sheet, or a small open box of baking soda.
This step ties into your overall cleaning room routine and makes your closet feel clean every time you open it. It’s a small touch, but it makes a big difference in maintaining that fresh, reset feeling.
MAINTAINING A CLEAN CLOSET
Finally, maintain your space with a quick weekly reset. Follow a mini cleaning checklist—refold anything messy, return items to their proper spots, and remove anything new that doesn’t belong. This keeps your room reset from turning into another overwhelming project. Once you get into this habit, your closet stays clean, organized, and stress-free without needing another full overhaul anytime soon.
