Windbreaker jackets are great to wear if you are a person who likes going camping or doing any outdoor activities. They are also worn by people who are just looking for a casual fit. While windbreaker jackets are nice and comfortable, they can be somewhat complicated to clean. This is because they are made differently compared to your average jacket. In this article, I will show you how to wash a windbreaker jacket the right way.

Can you wash windbreakers?

You can wash windbreaker jackets, but you have to do it in a slightly different way because they can be a bit complicated to clean. But below I will show you the right ways on how to wash a windbreaker jacket.

How to wash a windbreaker jacket

There are two different ways to clean a dirty windbreaker jacket. If your jacket is not all that dirty but you still want to clean it, all you have to do is wipe it down with a damp cloth, then air dry them. Doing this will definitely make your windbreaker jacket cleaner than before.

While this is a great tip to clean these types of jackets you still may need a different way to deep clean them.

When deep cleaning a windbreaker jacket you have to make sure that you only do it if the jacket is badly stained.  To deep clean the jacket, the first thing you should do is to place the jacket flat on a surface. The next thing you need to do is to get a detergent that won’t damage the jacket. It’s best to use detergents that don’t contain any chlorine in them. Now dab a piece of cloth into the detergent and use it to rub the stains on the jacket in a circular motion. After doing this leave the detergent on the jacket for 10 minutes.

Place the windbreaker jacket in a lingerie bag then place it inside the washer (use the same detergent to wash it). After washing, let the jacket air dry.

While this method may work for almost any stain, you may not get the same results if you had bloodstains on your jacket. Now the reason why you may have blood stains is that you probably injured yourself on accident while you had the jacket on. To wash the blood stain from your windbreaker jacket you just need to do everything I mentioned above except instead of using detergent to clean the stains, use hydrogen peroxide.
