When a flask hasn’t been cleaned in a while they tend to have a weird odor coming from the inside and the mouth part as well. If your flask is dirty and you want to clean it, you came to the right place because I am going to show you how to clean a flask the right way.

Cleaning a flask with dish soap

squeezing dishsoap inside of a thermoflaskIf you want to clean a thermos flask with dish soap then you need to do the following. Make sure that you empty the flask so that there is no more liquid inside of it. The next thing you should do is to get a clean damp sponge and squeeze a few drops of dish soap onto it. After that, you should clean both the interior and exterior of the flask.

Now a  problem most people run into when cleaning flasks is that it is way easier to clean the outside and harder to clean the inside.  But don’t worry there are a couple of ways to clean the interior of a flask. The first method you can use is to get a smaller sponge (one that is big but can still fit through the flask mouth) and place it inside the flask (make sure that the sponge is sudsy). Now use a fork and poke right through the sponge, now use twist the fork in a rotation so that the sponge can clean everywhere inside the flask. After doing that you should know to rinse out the flask.

For the second method, just fill up the flask with warm water then add 3tbs of dish soap and 1/2 cup of vinegar and let the interior soak for 10-20 minutes. After that just throughout the water and keep rinsing inside of the flask until there is no more soap left inside.

Cleaning a flask with rice

sprinkling rice inside of a thermoflaskCleaning a flask with rice may seem a bit strange at first but trust me it is very effective. When cleaning a thermos flask with rice you want to make sure that the rice is uncooked. Fill the flask halfway up with cold water then add a few tablespoons of rice into it (you can add some dish soap in it as well). Now shake the flask for a couple of minutes. After shaking, pour out the rice into a separate container to avoid blocking the drain then rinse out the flask.

To clean a flask stopper you need to get a small toothbrush (that your arent using) and add 1 tsp of dish soap onto the bristles. Then place the toothbrush under running water for 1 second and use it to clean the flask stopper. Make sure that you clean everywhere on the stopper. You don’t even have to use dish soap, you can use vinegar or baking soda as well. After cleaning the stopper, you should rinse it off and place it in an area where it can dry.
